About Hinesburg Rides
Hinesburg Rides is a volunteer group operating under the Hinesburg Community Resource Center, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Hinesburg Rides operates with money from the town, state/federal grants, SCHIP grants, and donations.
Hinesburg Rides is all about community-based transportation — neighbors helping and working with neighbors. It is a program designed to address the wide range of transportation needs of all Hinesburg residents, employees, and employers.
It is a proven fact that transportation is an issue in Hinesburg. A small group of volunteers has been working with various transportation providers and organizations toward a solution to this problem.

Hinesburg Rides includes three components:
1. The Volunteer Driver Program
This program is intended to meet the needs of all Hinesburg residents by providing rides to doctors’ appointments, therapy, grocery store, post office, bank, and other approved needs. To date, a small group of Hinesburg residents have agreed to use their own cars to provide needed transportation. If you would like to become a volunteer driver, or if you need a ride, or know of someone who does, call to arrange for transportation.

2. Rideshare Program
Nearly half of the carbon emissions from the state of Vermont come from the transportation sector, and the majority of that comes out of the tailpipes of cars carrying one person at a time. Many of us are concerned about the impacts of our driving on traffic congestion, air quality, and climate change. Our household budgets have been squeezed by increased gas prices. What can we do? Join the Hinesburg Rides rideshare program.

3. Local Employer Transportation Program
We will be working with local employers to coordinate various low-cost initiatives for providing better commuting options, i.e., vans, carpooling, bus, etc. These initiatives will help protect our environment, reduce cost of travel, and enable employers to employ and retain employees. Hopefully, this program will help pave the way for public transportation by CCTA.
